Voyager 1 says goodbye to the solar system

Clara Moskowitz at Space.com reports that the Voyager 1 probe, launched by NASA in 1977 is about to become the first manmade object to exit the solar system.  At the moment it is lurking along the outer edges of the solar system’s heliosphere, which is a massive protective bubble created by the sun’s magnetic field.  Soon it is expected to burst out into interstellar space and perhaps will reveal something of vital importance… or nothing at all.
